Visitor Mira chat
Visitor chat on your public page vs owner Mira review.
Quick start
- Sign in, open
My Portfolios, and confirm the portfolio is published and publicly accessible. - Open View public page (or
/p/[slug]) in a private / incognito window so you see the visitor experience — not your owner editor Mira. - Look for the Mira chat control in the lower-right. If it is enabled, the panel mode label is About this portfolio. Guests may need to Sign in to chat with Mira before the conversation opens.
- To hide the widget for visitors: in the editor, open Settings → Privacy Settings, turn Hide visitor Mira chat on (Pro), then click Save.
- Reopen the public page in a private window — the Mira chat widget should be gone.
Public URL basics: Public portfolio page. Privacy card overview: Privacy and visibility.
Deep dive
Three Mira surfaces (do not mix them up)
| Surface | Where | Mode / purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Owner review Mira | Portfolio editor (/portfolios/edit/[pid]) | Portfolio editor — reviews your content and can propose edits you Apply |
| Theme Designer / theme assist | Theme edit | Visual theme help — not public-page chat |
| Visitor Mira | Public portfolio (/p/[slug] or custom domain) | About this portfolio — guests ask about the published portfolio |
Visitor Mira does not edit your draft. Owner review steps: Mira portfolio review. Theme tools: Theme Designer and Mira theme assist.
What visitors see
When visitor Mira is available on the live page:
- A Mira control appears fixed in the lower-right (owner Help does not place
?tooltips on/p/[slug]). - Opening chat may show Sign in to chat with Mira until the visitor is authenticated (Portura sign-in on portura.ai; a Mira sign-in path on a custom domain).
- After sign-in, guests chat in About this portfolio mode about the published content.
Use a private window (or sign out) when checking the visitor path yourself. Preview is for draft layout; the public page shows published content — Preview and public page.
Hide visitor Mira chat (Pro)
On /portfolios/edit/[pid] → Settings → Privacy Settings:
| Control | Feature key | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Hide visitor Mira chat | hide-mira-custom-domain | Hides the Mira chat widget on your public portfolio |
That matches the UI helper: Hides the Mira chat widget on your public portfolio. When Pro and the toggle are on (and you Save), the widget is hidden on both /p/[slug] and a connected custom domain — not custom-host-only (unlike Remove Portura branding, which is custom-domain chrome).
Free accounts see the Pro upgrade gate instead of using the toggle. Card-level visibility help stays on the Privacy header ? — use the dedicated ? next to Hide visitor Mira chat for this article.

Tokens and limits
Visitor Mira uses AI tokens (usage credits), the same family of limits as other Mira features. Allowances, account credit, and plan differences change over time — check the FAQ and Plans and tokens. This guide does not hard-code prices or token counts, and visitor chat is still subject to plan and usage limits.
Analytics (owner dashboard)
Owner Portfolio Analytics can include Mira-related sections (for example chat sessions). That dashboard is separate from the public chat widget. See Portfolio analytics.
Contact form vs visitor Mira
| Channel | Role |
|---|---|
| Contact form | Visitors leave a message → Conversations |
| Visitor Mira | Guests ask Mira about the published portfolio (AI chat) |
They are not interchangeable. Contact setup: Contact form for visitors.
Tips
- Check visitor Mira in a private window so you do not confuse it with owner review Mira in the editor.
- Turn Hide visitor Mira chat on only when you want the widget gone for guests; leave it off when you want public Q&A.
- Remember sign-in: some guests see Sign in to chat with Mira before the conversation starts.
- Pair privacy changes with Save on the Privacy card, then recheck the live URL.
- For traffic and Mira session stats, use Portfolio analytics — not the public widget itself.
Next to Hide visitor Mira chat on the Privacy card, use ? for this guide. The Privacy card header ? stays on Privacy and visibility.
Troubleshooting
I do not see Mira on the public page
- Confirm the portfolio is public and published.
- Confirm Hide visitor Mira chat is off (and Saved), or that you are on Pro if you expected the toggle to control it.
- Use a private window — signed-in owners can still open private URLs in ways visitors cannot.
Guests see “Sign in to chat with Mira”
- Expected for unauthenticated visitors. They sign in (Portura or the custom-domain Mira sign-in path), then the chat opens.
I hid Mira but it still appears
- Confirm Pro includes
hide-mira-custom-domain, the toggle is on, and you clicked Save. - Hard-refresh the public page (both
/p/[slug]and custom domain if you use one).
Guests are chatting with Mira but I expected Conversations threads
- Visitor Mira is AI chat about the portfolio. Messages from the contact form land in Conversations.
