Plans and tokens
Free, Pro, and Plus, tokens, account credit, and upgrades.
Quick start
- Sign in and open
Settings→ Billing (/settings/billing), or jump straight to that URL. - Review Membership Plan, Monthly token allowance, and Account credit on the Billing tab.
- To upgrade: add a payment method if prompted (Add card), then click Upgrade to Pro or Upgrade to Plus and confirm with Upgrade plan in Change membership plan.
- You should now see your plan status, remaining tokens, credit balance, and how to upgrade from Billing.
Deep dive
Membership Plan
The Membership Plan section shows the paid plans you can move to, plus your current plan when you are already subscribed. Labels and features come from Portura’s live plan catalog — use /pricing for current public comparisons.
Portura has three membership tiers:
- Free: One portfolio and one long-scroll Home page. Billing shows both Pro and Plus so you can compare. Use Add card if you have no payment method, then Upgrade to Pro or Upgrade to Plus. Use Monthly / Yearly to preview prices before you confirm in Change membership plan.
- Pro: Still one portfolio and one Home page. Pro unlocks analytics, one custom domain, slug editing, job-match AI, embeds, and higher media storage than Free — not extra sites or extra pages. Billing keeps your Active Pro plan and shows Plus as the upgrade path. Upgrade to Plus applies immediately (Stripe charges a prorated amount for the rest of the current period; your monthly vs yearly interval stays the same).
- Plus: Up to five portfolios, extra pages (up to eight total per portfolio, including Home), five custom domains, more media storage than Pro, and a larger monthly token allowance. Multiple portfolios and extra pages are Plus, not Pro. You can Switch to Pro from Billing: you keep Plus until the end of the current billing period (no refund), then the next successful Stripe payment applies Pro.
Pro (or other paid): The current-plan card shows Active, optional next-billing summary, Switch to a lower plan on Plus, and (when available) Cancel subscription. Pro members also see the Plus plan card with Upgrade to Plus. If a Plus → Pro switch is scheduled, Billing shows the effective date and Stay on Plus.
Change membership plan confirms the plan, price, and payment method (and billing interval on Free → paid). It does not repeat the full feature list — that stays on Billing and /pricing. Paid members keep their current interval when moving Pro ↔ Plus. You need a saved card before upgrade or credit purchases can complete.
If you have a promo code, enter it in Promo code, click Apply, then confirm with Upgrade plan (or Upgrade now for Pro → Plus). You need a saved payment method to apply a code. Promo codes are not used when switching to a lower plan.
Monthly token allowance vs account credit
Billing separates two balances:
| Label | What it is for |
|---|---|
| Monthly token allowance | Tokens remaining for text AI this period (progress bar + used count). Paid plans include a monthly grant that resets each billing cycle (see period end date in the UI). Free accounts get a one-time token grant for text AI — not a monthly reset. |
| Account credit | USD balance used after allowance runs out for text AI, and always for image generation. |
Helper text on the tab: account credit is Used for AI after your allowance runs out and for image generation. Free accounts also see that images always use account credit.
For short definitions that match product FAQ language, open FAQ → Plans & billing (tokens, allowances, and credit) — Help does not paste those answers here.
Add credit and Automatic top-up
- Add credit opens Add account credit so you can top up for continued AI usage. You need a payment method first.
- Automatic top-up (Auto-add credit) can charge your card when credit drops below your trigger. Set the threshold and amount in the fields shown, then Save auto top-up. Enable only when a card is on file and your balance rules in the UI are satisfied.
Media storage
When your plan has a media quota, Billing shows a Media storage usage strip (used vs limit). Manage files in the Media library. Quota details change with the plan catalog — see /pricing and the FAQ rather than memorizing numbers from Help.
Cancel subscription
On a paid plan, Cancel subscription opens a confirmation: you keep access until the end of the current billing period, then the account reverts to the free plan. If cancel is already scheduled, Billing shows a warning and Resume subscription.
Canceling ends paid entitlements after the period ends (analytics, custom domains, extra portfolios, extra pages, and other paid features). Confirm only if you intend that change.
Payment method
Further down the tab you can view or update your card. Payment history and invoices live under Payment History — see Billing and invoices. Account shell overview: Account settings.
Composition limits by plan
These catalog numbers are the defaults customers see in the product. A plan document can lower them, but Help uses these defaults.
| Capability | Free | Pro | Plus |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pages (including Home) | 1 | 1 | 8 |
| Extra galleries | 1 (original) | 1 (original) | 8 |
| Extra project lists | 1 (original) | 1 (original) | 8 |
| Calls to action | 0 | 0 | 8 |
| Content blocks | 0 | 4 | 4 |
| Embeds | 0 | 4 | 4 |
| Contact form fields (includes name, message, email, phone) | 4 | 4 | 20 |
| Clients / Team / Pricing sections | 0 | 0 | 6 each |
| Clients or team items per section | 8 | 24 | 48 |
| Pricing plans per section | 4 | 12 | 24 |
Plus (multi-page-portfolio and composable-extras) is required for extra pages, extra galleries and project lists, clients/team/pricing, CTAs, and sharing one extra section on more than one page. Custom contact-form fields (custom-contact-form-fields) are Plus. Free and Pro still have the reserved name and message fields. Content blocks and embeds stay Pro.
Pro and Plus gates elsewhere
Features such as advanced analytics and custom domains redirect Free accounts to Billing so you can upgrade here. Extra portfolios and extra pages require Plus. High-level guide: Portfolio analytics. Custom domains: Custom domains. Pages: Nickname, URL, and pages. Extra sections: Compose your portfolio.
Tips
- Bookmark
/settings/billingwhen you check tokens or credit often. - Watch the allowance resets date so you know when the monthly paid grant refreshes.
- Prefer Add credit or auto top-up before a heavy image or AI session if allowance is low.
- Use
/pricingand FAQ for current plan prices and limits — not screenshots or old Help drafts. - On Billing, use the ? next to the title for a short reminder and a Learn more link back to this article.
Tokens ≠ dollars. Allowance covers text AI for the period; Account credit covers overage text usage and all image generation.
Troubleshooting
Upgrade plan is missing or disabled
- Add a payment method with Add card first.
- Wait if you see an activating-subscription message after checkout.
- Confirm you are on
/settings/billing, not Payment History.
Account credit purchase fails
- Update the card under the payment method section, then retry Add credit.
- If the bank requires extra authentication, update the payment method and try again.
- Check payment errors on the Billing tab before opening a support request.
I canceled but still see paid features
- Access continues until the billed period ends. Check the cancel warning and end date on Membership Plan.
- Use Resume subscription if cancel was scheduled by mistake and you still want the paid plan.
