Deep dive

Where Career lives

On /portfolios/edit/[pid], the Career jump scrolls into the Career group. This article covers the three credential lists:

SectionAnchorRole
Work Experiencesection-experienceRoles, employers, dates, and descriptions
Educationsection-educationSchools, degrees, fields of study, and dates
Licenses & Certificationssection-certificationsCredentials, issuers, dates, and optional links

Projects also sits under the same Career divider in the editor; projects and gallery are covered in Projects and gallery.

Appearance on the public page comes from your theme — this guide covers content only. On Plus with extra pages, Appears on assigns this section to one page. Details: Nickname, URL, and pages.

Work Experience

Work Experience is your employment history. Each entry can include Title, Company, optional company logo, start/end dates (or I currently work here), and a description.

Click Add to open the Add Work Experience side panel. Required fields: Title and Company. After you save, the role appears as a list card with edit and delete actions.

Education

Education holds degrees, diplomas, and academic background. Each entry can include Institution, Degree, optional institution logo, Field of Study, and dates (or I currently study here).

Click Add for the Add Education side panel. Required fields typically include Institution, Degree, and Start Date. Save to add the card to the list.

Licenses & Certifications

Licenses & Certifications stores professional credentials. Each entry can include Name, Issuing Organization, Issue Date, optional Expiration Date, Credential URL, and an optional image.

Click Add for the Add Certification side panel. Required fields: Name, Issuing Organization, and Issue Date. Save to show the credential on the list.

Add, edit, and delete

All three sections share the same list pattern:

  1. Add — opens a side panel form; Save creates the item and closes the panel.
  2. Edit — opens the matching Edit … side panel for that card; Save updates it.
  3. Delete — asks for confirmation before removing the item. Deletion cannot be undone from this dialog.

While a Career side panel is open, the editor treats that as an active edit session — finish or cancel before publishing.

Empty required fields show Required helper text and a short “Please fill in all required fields.” message on the save row. Fix those fields and save again.

Import vs typing by hand

You can type Career entries one by one, or start from a resume upload when Import is available on the jump nav. Import can seed experience, education, and related profile fields — then you refine them here.

See Import from resume for that path.

Job match and resume PDFs

Career data is not only for the public page. Job tools use your portfolio — including experience, education, and certifications — when you score fit against a job description and when you generate tailored resume PDFs.

Start with Job Descriptions overview (Phase 5; may 404 until published). Keep roles and credentials accurate so match scores and generated resumes stay useful.

Tips

  • Add your current or most relevant role in Work Experience before long education or certification lists.
  • Use clear titles and company names — visitors and job tools both read those lines first.
  • Prefer one strong certification with a Credential URL over many incomplete rows.
  • Save each Career panel before Publish / Publish draft — open edit sessions keep publish disabled.
  • Use Preview after big Career updates to confirm the themed page shows the new entries.

Next to the Career divider in the editor, use ? for a short reminder and a Learn more link back to this article.

Troubleshooting

I cannot save a Career entry

  • Look for fields marked Required and the save-row message asking you to fill required fields.
  • Work Experience — confirm Title and Company.
  • Education — confirm Institution, Degree, and Start Date.
  • Licenses & Certifications — confirm Name, Issuing Organization, and Issue Date.

Delete did not remove the item

  • Confirm the dialog (Delete work experience?, Delete education item?, or Delete certification?) and wait for the action to finish.
  • Refresh the editor if the list still looks stale after a network error.

Career looks empty on the public page

  • Confirm you saved the side panel and published (or previewed) after the change.
  • Check that the section is visible in your theme; placement and styling come from the theme editor, not these forms.
