Improve portfolio for a job

Turn match gaps into portfolio change proposals.

Quick start

  1. Sign in and open Job Descriptions (/job-descriptions). Confirm the Portfolio dropdown matches the site you want to improve.
  2. On a saved job card that already has a Match score, click View details to open Match Details.
  3. In Match history, select the run you want to act on, then click Improve for this job.
  4. When suggestions are ready, click Implement suggested changes, review each proposed edit, then Confirm changes — or cancel and edit the portfolio yourself in the editor.
  5. You should now have reviewed (and optionally applied) grounded portfolio edits for that job — nothing was saved silently.

Improve for this job generates a proposal you review. It does not auto-edit your portfolio. Only Confirm changes (or manual edits in the portfolio editor) write content.

Deep dive

Where improve starts

Improve lives inside Match Details, not on the card action row by itself.

  1. Score the posting first — see Job match score.
  2. Open View details.
  3. Use Match history to pick a run (date, rating band, percent).
  4. Click Improve for this job for the selected run.

The page Portfolio dropdown still controls which portfolio the match and improve use. Switch it before you score if you manage more than one site. For the Job Descriptions list and card actions, see Job Descriptions overview.

Improve is a proposal — not a silent edit

Improve for this job calls Portura’s match-improve AI to turn gaps from that score into a portfolio change proposal. After it finishes, you should see a success toast (“Portfolio improvement suggestions ready”) and an Implement suggested changes button when a proposal exists.

ControlWhat it does
Improve for this jobGenerates (or regenerates) a proposal from the selected match run
Implement suggested changesOpens Confirm portfolio update so you can review before saving
Confirm changesApplies the reviewed proposal to your portfolio
CancelCloses the review dialog without saving

The confirm dialog states clearly: nothing is saved until you confirm. You can edit or deselect operations in the review form before you confirm. Keyword chips in Match Details (including JD keywords less prominent in your portfolio) are signals for reading the score — they are not an automatic checklist that Implement must apply one-for-one.

Public portfolio and locked sections

If the portfolio is public, some sections stay locked for proposal apply. Match Details shows a warning and may link Privacy settings. When a proposal still references locked sections, Implement suggested changes stays disabled with guidance to take the portfolio private first, regenerate improvements after going private, or edit only allowed sections in the portfolio editor.

Manual editing in the editor may still respect live/public locks for some fields — privacy, SEO, and section rules are covered in Privacy, SEO, and analytics.

How this relates to Mira review

Match improve and owner Mira review both produce change proposals you review before apply — they are different entry points:

FlowWhereFocus
Improve for this jobJob Descriptions → View detailsEdits grounded in that JD’s match gaps
Owner Mira reviewPortfolio editor chatBroader content review you ask for in chat

Owner Mira uses Preview / Apply / Skip on proposal cards — see Ask Mira to review your portfolio. Match improve uses Implement suggested changesConfirm portfolio updateConfirm changes.

Neither path is Theme Designer or Mira theme assist (those change theme visuals, not section content). For career fields improve often targets — experience, skills, education, and related forms — see Career sections. Showcase work (projects, gallery) is covered in Showcase sections when proposals touch those areas.

Tokens (separate from scoring)

Improve for this job uses AI tokens on its own. Generating or regenerating a match score is a separate token-using action. This guide does not hard-code prices or token counts — check the FAQ and Settings → billing. A dedicated Plans and tokens guide will cover allowances when Account & billing Help ships.

Pro: Match scoring and improve need job-match-ai. Without that entitlement, you cannot generate scores or run improve from Match Details.

Tips

  • Score first, then improve — Improve for this job needs a selected match history run.
  • Prefer Confirm portfolio update review over applying blindly, especially when the proposal includes deletes.
  • If Implement is blocked while the site is public, take the portfolio private (or edit allowed sections manually), then regenerate improvements if needed.
  • After you apply changes, open the portfolio editor, check the affected sections, and publish when you want visitors to see updates.
  • Use owner Mira review for open-ended content polish; use match improve when you want edits aimed at a specific saved JD.

Troubleshooting

Improve for this job does nothing / I see an upgrade path

  • Match improve needs Pro (job-match-ai), same family as scoring. Upgrade from the prompt or open SettingsBilling.

Implement suggested changes is disabled

  • The portfolio is likely public and the proposal touches locked sections. Open Privacy settings, take the site private if appropriate, then regenerate improve — or edit only allowed sections in the portfolio editor.

I ran Improve but do not want those edits

  • Do not click Confirm changes. Close Confirm portfolio update with Cancel, or leave Implement suggested changes unused. Your portfolio stays unchanged until you confirm or edit manually.

Suggestions look off for this job

  • Confirm the Portfolio dropdown and the selected Match history run.
  • Prefer regenerating the match score after large portfolio or JD text updates, then run Improve for this job again on the new run.
  • Cross-check career content in Career sections so the next improve has accurate facts to ground on.
