Nickname, URL, and pages

Set nickname, public slug, and Plus extra pages in Setup.

Quick start

  1. Sign in, open My Portfolios, and click Edit on a portfolio to open /portfolios/edit/[pid].
  2. In the sticky jump nav, click Setup (scrolls to section-nickname) — or expand Portfolio Nickname near the top of the editor.
  3. Enter a Nickname (private label for your dashboard), then click Save. Leave it empty if you prefer the portfolio Title to appear instead.
  4. Check your public path form: https://portura.ai/p/your-slug (your real slug replaces your-slug). On Pro, expand Portfolio URL to customize the slug; on Free, that control stays locked behind upgrade.
  5. Expand Pages (section-pages) under nickname and URL. Home is always there. On Plus, add extra pages; on Free or Pro, extra pages stay behind a Plus upgrade path.
  6. You should now have a nickname for My Portfolios, know whether you can edit the public /p/[slug] URL, and know how Pages works on your plan.

Deep dive

Where Setup lives

On /portfolios/edit/[pid], Setup is an owner-only group. Jump nav Setup targets Portfolio Nickname (section-nickname). Directly below is Portfolio URL (section-slug) when your plan includes editable slugs, then Pages (section-pages). Jump nav Pages scrolls to that card.

Collaborators with edit access do not see nickname, URL, or Pages controls — only owners do.

Portfolio Nickname

Nickname is a private label (up to 80 characters). Only you see it in your account (for example on My Portfolios). Visitors never see it on the public page.

  • Helps tell portfolios apart when you have more than one (e.g. “Tech jobs”, “Freelance”).
  • If empty, Portura falls back to the portfolio Title for that internal display.
  • Saving nickname does not change your public URL or publish status.

Public URL and default slug

Every portfolio gets a public path shaped like:

https://portura.ai/p/your-slug

That is /p/[slug] on Portura’s site. Portura assigns a default slug from your name when the portfolio is created (and may append a number if needed for uniqueness). Free and Pro portfolios both keep a working default slug — you do not need Pro just to have a public URL after you publish.

Use workspace Preview or View public page to open the live route. Details: Preview and public page.

Custom slug (Pro)

Pro: Editing the slug requires the editable-portfolio-slug entitlement. In Setup, Portfolio URL is wrapped in a Pro gate:

  • Pro (unlocked): Expand Portfolio URL, review the current public link, click Edit Slug, enter a new Slug, wait for availability check, then Update Slug. Portura normalizes letters, numbers, spaces, and dashes (lowercase, spaces → dashes, max 80 characters).
  • Free (locked): You see the Pro upgrade panel instead of the slug editor. Your auto-assigned /p/[slug] still works; you cannot change it until you unlock the feature. The API also rejects slug updates without the entitlement.

After a successful update, share links that used the old slug stop working — update bookmarks, resumes, and social bios to the new URL.

Pages (Plus)

The Pages card (section-pages) sits in Setup under nickname and URL. Every portfolio has a Home page. Home’s public path is /p/[slug] — its page slug stays empty ("") and you cannot rename that slug or delete Home.

Plus: Extra pages each need a unique Slug (for example work). The public path is /p/[slug]/[page] — for example /p/jane/work. Use Add page, then Rename or Delete from the row menu. Deleting an extra page moves its sections to Home. Your plan cap includes Home (Plus allows up to eight pages total).

Use SEO settings in an extra page’s row menu to override its search title, meta description, and sharing image. Generate with AI drafts the title and description from the portfolio content assigned to that page; review the fields, then click Save page SEO. Blank fields inherit the portfolio defaults from Settings → SEO & Sharing. Home always uses those portfolio-wide defaults, including the single favicon.

Appears on on an original section (Projects, Experience, and similar) still assigns that section to one page. Extra sections — a second Gallery or Projects list, a call to action, Clients, Team, Pricing, embeds, and content blocks — can appear on more than one page on Plus. Sharing those extras: Reusable sections and pages. The control is hidden on Free and Pro, and when only Home exists.

Free and Pro: You see the Pages card and a Plus upgrade path. You cannot add extra pages. If you previously had Plus, leftover extra pages stay listed but locked — they are visible, not editable, and not served on the public site until you upgrade again.

Custom domains

A connected custom domain hosts the same published portfolio as /p/[slug] — not a second site. DNS and domain setup: Custom domains (Pro).

Tips

  • Pick a short, readable slug before you share widely — changing it later breaks old links.
  • Use nickname for internal organization; keep Title and public profile text visitor-facing.
  • Confirm the live page with View public page after Publish / Publish draft, not only from the editor.
  • On Free, plan Pro if you need a branded slug (e.g. /p/jane-designer) instead of the auto-assigned default.
  • On Plus, keep extra page slugs short and unique. Use Appears on to place original sections on one page, and share extras when you want the same content on more than one page. You can also ask Mira in the editor to suggest a page structure or apply page and assignment changes.

Troubleshooting

I do not see Portfolio URL / Edit Slug

  • You need Pro with editable-portfolio-slug. Free accounts see the upgrade gate only.
  • Confirm you are the owner — collaborators cannot edit nickname or slug.
  • Jump to Setup and scroll past Portfolio Nickname.

I cannot add extra pages

  • Extra pages require Plus (multi-page-portfolio). Free and Pro see the upgrade path instead of a working Add page form.
  • If leftover extra pages appear after a downgrade, they stay listed and locked. Public extra URLs redirect to Home until you upgrade again.
  • The slug may have changed. Open Portfolio URL (Pro) or View public page and copy the current URL.
  • Confirm the portfolio is Public and published — private or unpublished sites are unavailable to anonymous visitors.

Nickname save failed

  • Check the inline error under Save, then try again.
  • Keep the nickname within 80 characters.
