Create an account
Sign up with email or OAuth to start using Portura.
Quick start
- Open Sign up (or choose Create an account from the Sign in page).
- On Create your account, choose how to continue:
- Email and password — enter your email, a strong password, confirm it, then click Create account.
- OAuth — click Continue with Google, Continue with LinkedIn, or Continue with GitHub, then finish the provider’s consent screens.
- After signup succeeds, Portura sends you to onboarding (or your
callbackUrlif you arrived from a protected link). - You should now have a Portura account and be ready for first-time setup — continue with First-time onboarding.
Deep dive
Email and password
The signup card defaults to Email/password. Fill in Email, Password, and Confirm password. Signup enforces password strength rules shown under the fields — meet them before Create account enables.
After a successful create, Portura signs you in and sends you to onboarding (by default /onboarding). You can later sign in again with the same email and password from /auth/login.
Optionally, click Send me a sign-in code to switch to Email/OTP. Portura emails a one-time code to that address — there is no phone or SMS signup.
Google, LinkedIn, and GitHub
Below the divider, you can sign up with:
- Continue with Google
- Continue with LinkedIn
- Continue with GitHub
These are the only OAuth providers on the page. After you approve access at the provider, Portura creates (or links) your account and continues to onboarding or your callback URL.
If you already have a Portura account with the same email, signing in with Google, GitHub, or LinkedIn links that provider to your existing account. You do not create a second account for that email.
Email/password vs OAuth-only

OAuth-only accounts typically cannot use “Forgot password?” until a Portura password exists. Prefer the same provider you used at signup. Details for returning users live in Sign in; password recovery is covered in Reset your password.
What happens after signup
Successful signup lands you in first-time onboarding (/onboarding): accept terms, complete profile steps, and verify email when asked. Full walkthrough: First-time onboarding.
If you opened signup with a safe callbackUrl (for example a deep link into the app), Portura may send you there after auth instead of the default onboarding path — still finish onboarding if the product asks you to.
You do not enter billing checkout during signup. New accounts start on the free plan.
Free plan and signup token bonus
New accounts can publish a portfolio on the free plan and receive a one-time AI token bonus at signup. Token amounts, Pro entitlements, and plan comparisons change over time — use the FAQ (free plan / tokens) and Pricing for current numbers. This guide does not hard-code prices or allowances.

Tips
- Bookmark Sign up and Sign in before you start — both are public marketing auth pages.
- Use the same method next time (password or the same OAuth provider) so you do not wonder which account you created.
- Prefer a real inbox you check; email verification and optional email codes go there.

Switching between password and email code on the signup card does not change OAuth. The three provider buttons stay available either way.
Troubleshooting
Create account stays disabled or shows a password error
- Meet every password requirement shown under the fields, and make sure Password and Confirm password match.
- Use a valid email format (for example
you@example.com).
OAuth window fails or returns to signup without an account
- Allow pop-ups/redirects for Portura and the provider (Google, LinkedIn, or GitHub).
- Finish the provider consent screen; canceling aborts signup.
- Try again, or use email/password instead.
I already have an account with this email
- Use Sign in with password, email code, or a linked OAuth provider.
- Signing in with Google, GitHub, or LinkedIn when the email already exists links that provider — it does not create a duplicate account.
I signed up with Google / LinkedIn / GitHub and cannot reset a password
- OAuth-only accounts may not have a Portura password. Sign in with the same provider.
